Cat's Top 10 Guilty Pleasures
Ways to get a good night's sleep
I found this article on yahoo.com and I thought it was really cool. Sometimes I dont get enough sleep or I wake up a lot during the night and this tells you what to eat to help you sleep. I think this is much better than taking a sleeping pill. All natural ways to solve having a bad sleep.
Top 10 foods for a good night's sleep
Bananas. They're practically a sleeping pill in a peel. Bananas contain a muscle relaxant.
Chamomile tea. The reason chamomile is such a staple of bedtime tea blends is its mild sedating effect - it's the perfect natural antidote for restless minds/bodies.
Warm milk. It's not a myth. Milk has some tryptophan - an amino acid that has a sedative - like effect - and calcium, which helps the brain use tryptophan.
Honey. Drizzle a little in your warm milk or herb tea. Lots of sugar is stimulating, but a little glucose tells your brain to turn off orexin.
Potatoes. A small baked spud won't overwhelm your GI tract, and it clears away acids that can interfere with yawn-inducing tryptophan. To up the soothing effects, mash it with warm milk.
Oatmeal. Oats are a rich source of sleep - inviting melatonin, and a small bowl of warm cereal with a splash of maple syrup is cozy - plus if you've got the munchies, it's filling too.
Almonds. A handful of these heart-healthy nuts can be snooze-inducing, as they contain both tryptophan and a nice dose of muscle-relaxing magnesium.
Flaxseeds. When life goes awry and feeling down is keeping you up, try sprinkling 2 tablespoons of these healthy little seeds on your bedtime oatmeal. They're rich in omega-3 fatty acids, a natural mood lifter.
Whole-wheat bread. A slice of toast with your tea and honey will release insulin, which helps tryptophan get to your brain, where it's converted to serotonin and quietly murmurs "time to sleep."
Turkey. It's the most famous source of tryptophan. Tryptophan works when your stomach's basically empty, not overstuffed, and when there are some carbs around, not tons of protein. But put a lean slice or two on some whole-wheat bread mid-evening, and you've got one of the best sleep inducers in your kitchen.
Have a good sleep!!

Life Lessons from “The Man”
I know it sounds extremely cliché for me to be saying this but never judge a book by its cover. Why do you think things become cliché to begin with? I think its because these commonly used statements are true facts that people just cant find better words to describe. Anyways, back to my judging comment. To give you guys a little background knowledge I had met this guy once or twice last year and never thought anything of him. Nice guy but no one I could be friends with. Oh did I mention he is in his fifties? But really, age is just a number. Cat and I really got to know him this past if March on a crazy vaca to Barbados. These are some of his wise words.
(If you are easily offended you might not want to read these. You have been warned.)
Lesson #1
Money solves any problem. If you are having trouble getting into a place that you shouldn’t necessarily be in, slide the guy a 20 and a smile and the doors will burst open
Lesson #2
Keep your shorts on. No matter how hot it gets or how much chafing is going on, NEVER take your shorts off
Lesson #3
So? If people are coming at you trying to say you are wrong just turn around and say “so.” They will stop dead in their tracks
Lesson #4
When going somewhere hot where there is an ocean, bring waterproof sunscreen. Self-explanatory
These are just a few...
Thanks uncle pete!

Finds of the Week!
Shopping should definitely be considered a medical treatment and/or cure. When you’re feeling sad, depressed, angry, pretty much anything, shopping will fix it all. Unless of course you’re sad because you maxed out your credit card, then I can’t help you there...but over the weekend being completely stressed and destroyed by my school work I decided to do the only thing plausible: SHOP
My target: Forever 21
It’s probably the best store for cheap yet amazing finds.
First Item: red dress
I love this dress! Yes, it does have a giant bow at the front that may make me resemble something of a Christmas present but hey, who doesn’t love Christmas!
And yes...I loved this dress so much I got it in the other colour....
Lastly, I got something I told myself I would never get because I really just didn't think I could pull off white shorts. Yes, white shorts being worn by someone who is not the impossible size of a model. Not only are they white, great, and not too short, but the studs on the back pockets make all you fellow flat butted friends actually have, dare I say it, a BUTT.
Sincerely,
Cat.
